Cooper Takes Oath as Newest Assemblymember for 9th District

Vows to protect small business, early education and the community

(SACRAMENTO) – Jim Cooper (D-Elk Gove) was sworn in as the representative for State Assembly  District 9, which includes the cities of Sacramento, Elk Grove, Lodi and Galt. The ceremony was held on the Assembly Floor at the State Capitol.

“It is an honor to serve the people of the 9th District,” said Cooper. “I grew up in Sacramento and I am ready to work to ensure small businesses thrive here and throughout the state. I am also ready to use my law enforcement background to help protect our communities as California realigns its prison system. We need innovative, comprehensive ways to protect, punish, and rehabilitate.”

The oath of office was administered by California Supreme Court Associate Justice Goodwin Liu.
