Lodi News-Sentinel: Assemblyman Jim Cooper appointed to agriculture committee, others

Assemblyman Jim Cooper of California’s 9th Assembly District has been appointed by Speaker Toni Atkins to serve as a member on five key policy committees and on the Joint Legislative Committee on Emergency Management.

“I’m confident that my work as a committee member on the Agriculture Committee and the Government Organization Committee will enable me to better serve my district,” Cooper said in a press release. “I’m also grateful that she has appointed me to the Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee so that I can use my experience and knowledge from my service as the Commander of the Sacramento Valley High-Tech Crime Task Force to safeguard and protect all Californians.”

Cooper Secures Key Committee Assignments

Will serve on Agriculture Committee, Budget Committee, Governmental Organization Committee, Insurance Committee and Privacy and Consumer Protection

SACRAMENTO – Today Ninth District Assemblymember Jim Cooper (D-Elk Grove) was appointed by Speaker Atkins to serve as a member of five key policy committees and on the Joint Legislative Committee on Emergency Management.

Cooper Takes Oath as Newest Assemblymember for 9th District

Vows to protect small business, early education and the community

(SACRAMENTO) – Jim Cooper (D-Elk Gove) was sworn in as the representative for State Assembly  District 9, which includes the cities of Sacramento, Elk Grove, Lodi and Galt. The ceremony was held on the Assembly Floor at the State Capitol.

“It is an honor to serve the people of the 9th District,” said Cooper. “I grew up in Sacramento and I am ready to work to ensure small businesses thrive here and throughout the state. I am also ready to use my law enforcement background to help protect our communities as California realigns its prison system. We need innovative, comprehensive ways to protect, punish, and rehabilitate.”

The oath of office was administered by California Supreme Court Associate Justice Goodwin Liu.
