DNA Collection Legislation Clears Key Hurdle
SACRAMENTO – Assembly Bill 16, authored by Assemblymember Jim Cooper (D-Elk Grove), was approved today by the Assembly Public Safety Committee. The bill would allow the collection of DNA upon conviction of seven specific crimes that were previously felonies but are now misdemeanors.
Bill to Eliminate Wage Disparities for Public Employees Signed into Law
SACRAMENTO – Assembly Bill 46, authored by Assemblymember Jim Cooper (D-Elk Grove) was signed into law today by Governor Jerry Brown. The bill will expand California’s pay equity laws to include all public employers, including the Legislature.
Governor Brown Signs Wilton Rancheria Ratification Bill
SACRAMENTO – Assembly Bill 1606, authored by Assemblymember Jim Cooper (D-Elk Grove) was signed today by Governor Jerry Brown. The bill ratifies a tribal-state gaming compact entered into between the State of California and the Wilton Rancheria.
