Assemblymember Cooper Issues Statement on Death of Sacramento Police Officer
SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Jim Cooper (D-Elk Grove) released the following statement regarding the death of Sacramento Police Officer Tara O’Sullivan:
“Officer O’Sullivan embodied honor, loyalty, and integrity. Her selfless service and dedication to her community will never be forgotten,” said Assemblymember Jim Cooper. “Tara was the first of four students-and the only woman- to complete Sacramento State’s Law Enforcement Candidate Scholars’ Program (LECS). I had the honor of meeting Tara, she was a go-getter poised for leadership roles and a successful career in law enforcement. I join the entire Sacramento community in expressing my condolences to Officer Sullivan’s family, fellow officers, and to those she gave her life to protect.”
Officer O’Sullivan, 26, died Wednesday night after she was shot at the scene of a domestic disturbance in North Sacramento.
Assemblymember Cooper led a moment of silence in honor of Officer O’Sullivan and adjourned in her memory during Assembly Session on Monday, June 24, 2019.
Assemblymember Cooper represents the Cities of Sacramento, Elk Grove, Galt, and Lodi.
